Seungri is a vocalist and the youngest member of the YG Entertainment Kpop group BIGBANG. Seungri displayed an interest in dance growing up, and was part of a crew in his hometown called Il Hwa. He appeared on the reality program "Let's Coke Play! Battle Shinhwa", a survival audition program whose goal was to build the next Shinhwa. Seungri was eliminated on the ninth episode, but his appearance garnered attention from YG Entertainment. He successfully auditioned for the company and became a trainee there. He debuted alongside G-Dragon, T.O.P, Daesung, and Taeyang as a part of BIGBANG in 2006.
Following his debut with the group, Seungri began developing his solo career both as a host and musician. In 2008 he became the host of Show! Music Core alongside Daesung. He also released a solo track, "Strong Baby", on BIGBANG's 2008 album Remember. The song earned Seungri a triple crown on the SBS weekend music show Inkigayo. Seungri released his first solo EP, VVIP, in January 2011 with lead singles "VVIP" and "What Can I Do".
Seungri kicked off a successful career in Japan in 2012 by appearing on popular domestic variety and reality programs. He began hosting solo fan meetings and even starred in the popular Japanese drama Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo. Seungri's career in Japan came to a sudden halt when a Japanese tabloid published pictures of him shirtless in bed, reportedly given to the magazine by a woman whom he's slept with. The woman claimed in the article that Seungri had a one-night stand with her and that he had an affinity for choking during intercourse. As a result of the sensationalized news, Seungri went on hiatus from Japan, addressing the scandal for the first time a year later on the SBS talk show Incarnation.
Seungri released his second Korean EP Let's Talk About Love in August of 2013 before re-releasing it in Japan. His popularity there resumed its upward climb following the album's release, securing Seungri a spot as a permanent host of the television program Popular Women 100, marking the first time a non-Japanese celebrity had become a host on a regular cable show in Japan.
Seungri returned to Korea in 2014 to become part of the cast of the drama Angel Eyes opposite YG actress Ku Hye-sun. In 2015 he joined the celebrity soccer league FC MEN. Since, he has been busy promoting with BIGBANG on their "MADE" world tour.
