Group Name: CNBLUE (씨엔블루) Debut: January 15, 2010 Debut Single: "I'm a Loner" Members: Jung Yonghwa, Lee Jonghyun, Kang Minhyuk, Lee Jungshin Former Members: Kwon Kwangjin CNBLUE is a Korean pop rock band formed under FNC Entertainment. The band's lineup originally consisted of Jung Yonghwa (guitar and vocals), Lee Jonghyun (lead guitar and vocals), Kang Minhyuk (drums), and Kwon Kwangjin (bass). However, shortly after the group's 2009 Japanese debut Kwon Kwangjin left the group and was replaced by Lee Jungshin on bass. CNBLUE's name is an acronym for Code Name: Burning, Lovely, Untouchable, and Emotional, the last four adjectives meant to symbolize the personalities of Jonghyun, Minhyuk, Jungshin, and Yonghwa, respectively. After playing on the streets and in clubs in Japan for about six months in 2009, the group finally made their Korean debut with their first EP Bluetory on January 15, 2010. The group's lead single "I'm A Loner" peaked at #2 on the Gaon chart, earning CNBLUE attention as rookies. CNBLUE won first place on Inkigayo just 15 days after their debut, one of the fastest wins following a debut in Kpop history. Following their immensely successful Korean debut, CNBLUE returned to Japan to promote and saw an uptick in their popularity there. CNBLUE came under fire in 2010 for performing a cover of Crying Nut's "Pilsal Off-Side" without the permission of the band. Crying Nut claimed that CNBLUE performed the song without their permission, and that moreover, they simply lip-synced to Crying Nut's original recording. After years of suing each other back and forth, CNBLUE eventually lost the case in 2016 and was forced to pay Crying Nut a penalty fee of 15 million KRW. Despite the ongoing legal case, CNBLUE has been steadily popular in Korea over the years, releasing two studio albums, seven EPs, and four Asian tours. The members of CNBLUE have branched out into other industry activities, namely acting and MCing on various Korean television shows and dramas.
