A big to-do was made of today’s head-to-head solo debuts of the maknaes: miss A’s youngest member Suzy and Girls’ Generation’s youngest member Seohyun.

Despite the constant media reminders of the big debut battle, it looks like the Suzy vs. Seohyun competition has come out as a win-win for everyone.

Last night Suzy pre-released “Pretend” from her forthcoming debut album, “Yes? No?,” and immediately swept the charts in Korea, achieving a perfect all-kill. Currently, “Pretend” is sitting at the #1 spot on Melon, Genie, Olleh Music, Naver Music, Bugs Music, Soribada, Mnet Music, and Monkey 3.

Meanwhile, after dropping her debut solo single “Don’t Say No” last night, Seohyun is dominating the charts abroad. Her album is currently #1 on iTunes in Belize, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Vietnam, and has taken the #2 spot in Indonesia, Mexico, and the Philippines. The Girls’ Generation is even making a dent in the US iTunes chart, with her album holding its own at #25 on the iTunes album chart amongst such artists as U2, Adele, and the Weeknd.

Congratulations to both Suzy and Seohyun on their successful solo debuts!
