Following the immense success of Produce 101 and the program’s resultant group I.O.I, Mnet is carrying on with a male version of the show next year.
The male version of Produce 101 is set to begin airing in the first half of 2017, and according to the show’s reps, conversations with the various participating entertainment companies is pretty much done, and casting is nearly complete. It has also been announced that like last season’s female version of Produce 101, neither YG Entertainment nor SM Entertainment will be sending any of their trainees to compete on the male version of the show.
However, it has been confirmed that there is a possibility that JYP Entertainment trainees will be competing this seasons, raising anticipation following the immense success of their trainee Jeon Somi on the debut season of the show and with I.O.I.
Again, the male version of Produce 101 is set to begin airing in the first half of 2017, so until then be on the lookout for more updates on the upcoming season of the show from moonROK.
