JYP Confirms Girl Group Reality Program ‘Sixteen’

It was reported yesterday that JYP Entertainment and Mnet would possibly be working together to create a survival audition reality program to choose the members of JYP’s next girl group.

Just now, that news has been confirmed.

Dubbed “Sixteen,” the program is said to be in an entirely new, never-before-seen format that will have viewers on the edges of their seats.

There will be 16 contestants on the show (hence the name of the program), and of those 16, 4 competitors are Japanese and 1 is Chinese.

JYP Entertainment is not new to this sort of televised selection process, as the members of Wonder Girls, 2AM, and 2PM were all chosen on reality shows as well.

A JYP representative stated, “Along with Mnet, we will show everyone a fun and charming cast through the reality program ‘Sixteen.’ We hope that you’ll anticipate and support [the show].”

The first episode of “Sixteen” is scheduled to air in April, so be sure to stay tuned to moonROK for updates as the first broadcast approaches.
