Jessica Explains Her Departure from Girls’ Generation in Personal Statement

Just now, former Girls’ Generation member Jessica has released an official statement regarding her departure from Girls’ Generation. Below is a translation:

Hello, this is Jessica.

On September 29th I was informed by my agency that I would be leaving Girls’ Generation, and because I cannot hide my shocked and upset heart, I will now make an official statement.

Throughout my time as a member of Girls’ Generation, I have always put Girls’ Generation before my business and personal life. However, despite the effort I put forth for the team, I have been asked by my agency to leave the group.

As I planned the business that I’ve always had a lot of interest in since before, I consulted SM Entertainment and the members several times and every step of the way to ensure that they sufficiently understood.

In August, I launched BLANC with the consent and permission of SM, and received congratulations from the members as well.

However, just one month after the launch in early September, the members suddenly changed their position and held a meeting, and without any sort of justifiable reason told me that I should either quit my business or leave Girls’ Generation.

I explained to them that I had already received permission from the agency, that I had never once neglected Girls’ Generation’s activities, and that I could not suddenly halt my business post-launch due to my contracts with my business partners. Ultimately, I pleaded that it was unfair to demand that I choose.

Becoming a Girls’ Generation member was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I never once thought about quitting. After [the meeting with the members], I met with the agency CEO on September 16th to convey my position, who once again confirmed that I had permission to carry out my business.

However, on September 29th, I was informed by my agency that I was unilaterally being asked to leave Girls’ Generation. Thus, I was unable to attend the fan meeting in China on September 30th, and have been excluded from all future Girls’ Generation activities.

I cannot hide the pain and sadness that I feel upon being asked to leave Girls’ Generation by the agency and fellow members, whom I’ve lived the past 15 years of my life for and poured all of my passion and effort into, just because I am starting a business.

I also want to apologize for unintentionally causing the fans to worry. Please understand that this situation is not at all what I wanted and that I’ve always treasured Girls’ Generation, and will continue to do so. Thank you for always showing me generous love and support.

It seems that Jessica’s and SM Entertainment’s official statements have quite a few differing points to them concerning the reason for Jessica leaving the group. None of the other Girls’ Generation members have made statements or comments on the issue yet, but it seems like this story will continue to develop in the coming days. Stay tuned to moonROK for more updates as the story breaks.
