If you’ve been paying any attention to the news, you know that Korea is currently embroiled in a political scandal of unprecedented size and scope.

It was recently uncovered that the President of South Korea (Park Geun Hye) has for years been confiding in and possibly showing favoritism (and by that, we mean embezzling lots of money) to a religious cult leader named Choi Soon Sil and her immediate circle of friends and family.

As a result, a massive investigation into what has been dubbed “Choi Soon Sil-gate” has been opened, and prosecutors are hunting down every possible link to Choi and Park. One of those links is famous music video director Cha Eun Taek. Cha was arrested two days ago at Incheon Airport under suspicion that he has been a key figure in the entire scandal, making millions of dollars off the government.

YG Entertainment and Yang Hyun Suk himself have also come under suspicion of being involved with Choi Soon Sil, and today YG founder Yang Hyun Suk denied those allegations, saying: “I have no idea why people believe these words. I have 0% association.”

YG continued, “It’s been 10 years since I’ve seen Cha Eun Taek. There’s nothing to clarify.”

It remains to be seen if YG’s statement today will but the rumors to bed once and for all. In the meantime, moonROK will continue to keep you updated on all of your favorite Kpop artists and idols.
