Tiffany grew up in California and auditioned for SM Entertainment in Los Angeles at age 15 in 2004. She joined the company and moved to Korea to train at SM's headquarters in Seoul. Tiffany debuted with Girls' Generation in August 2007, and has been active in the Korean entertainment industry since. Beginning in 2009 Tiffany hosted the MBC weekend music program Music Core alongside fellow Girls' Generation member Yuri. In 2011, Tiffany made her musical debut as the character Carmen Diaz in Fame. In 2012 she and fellow SNSD members Taeyeon and Seohyun formed a Girls' Generation subunit called TaeTiSeo, promoting a mini album with the hit lead single "Twinkle." Tiffany made her official solo debut with the release of her EP I Just Wanna Dance, promoting a single of the same title. In January of 2014, Tiffany and 2PM member Nichkhun were spotted by the Korean paparazzi on a date. It was later confirmed by both celebrities' representatives that the two were in a relationship, but it was since reported in 2015 that the two had broken up. Most recently, Tiffany was embroiled in controversy when she unintentionally uploaded a Snapchat while in Tokyo using a geo-filter with the Japanese imperial Rising Sun on it. Tiffany's post coincided with Korea's Liberation Day, marking the date on which Korea achieved its independence from Japanese imperial rule. Tiffany uploaded a handwritten apology letter for the incident and is currently reflecting on her mistake.
