Nayeon is a lead vocalist in the JYP Entertainment girl group TWICE. Nayeon became a trainee in at JYP Entertainment in 2010 after attending and passing the company's open audition in Seoul. JYP had originally planned for her to be a member of a group called 6mix along with fellow future TWICE members Jihyo, Jungyeon, and Sana. However, the group didn't pan out as planned and instead all four returned to being trainees at the company.
As a trainee, Nayeon landed multiple CF endorsements and appeared in multiple music videos, including Jun.K's "No Love", GOT7's "Girls Girls Girls", and miss A's "Only You". Nayeon became a contestant on the JYP survival audition program SIXTEEN and successfully placed in the Top 7, resultantly debuting as a member of TWICE in October 2015.
