Stage Name: Jonghyun (종현) Birth Name: Kim Jong Hyun (김종현) Birthday: April 8, 1990 Hometown: Seoul, South Korea Nationality: Korean Debut: May 25, 2008 Position: Main Vocalist Jonghyun is one of the main vocalists for the SM Entertainment Kpop group SHINee. He debuted with the group in 2008 and has actively promoted with SHINee since. Jonghyun kicked off his songwriting career beginning with the group's fourth promotional single "Juliette." Jonghyun would go on to write two songs on the group's second full-length album Lucifer, two on their mini album Sherlock, and an outstanding five on the SHINee's Misconceptions series of releases. In January 2015, Jonghyun made his solo debut with the release of his first mini album, Base. The album's two lead singles "Crazy" and "Deja Boo" were co-written by Jonghyun and popular R&B singer Zion.T. The album was critically-acclaimed for its artistry and topped the Gaon Album Chart and Billboard's World Albums chart. Following the release of his solo album, Jonghyun began composing for other artists including EXO and Lim Kim. In May 2015, Jonghyun wrote SHINee's title track "View," and in September of the same year he published a book entitled "Skeleton Flower: Things That Have Been Released and Set Free," which detailed his songwriting experiences and inspirations. In May of 2016, Jonghyun released his first full-length album "She Is," an album full of self-composed tracks. In October of 2010, Jonghyun became the subject of sensational news when he became one of the first Kpop idols to ever be outed as being in a relationship with a fellow celebrity and actress, Shin Se Kyung. Nine months after their relationship was revealed by the Korean paparazzi, the two announced that they had broken up due to their busy schedules. On April 1, 2013, Jonghyun was involved in a car wreck while driving home late one night. He injured his nasal bone in the accident and received surgery to treat the injury, forcing him to sit out most of SHINee's promotions for their single "Why So Serious?"
