Bobby is one of the lead rappers in the YG Entertainment Kpop group iKON. Bobby was born in Seoul and moved to Fairfax, Virginia at a young age with his parents. He traveled to New York to audition for YG, and upon successfully passing the audition moved back to Seoul to train with the company.

After joining YG, Bobby participated in the survival audition program WIN: Who Is Next. He was placed on Team B and competed against and ultimately lost to Team A, who went on to debut as WINNER. Following their loss, Bobby and the rest of Team B went back to being trainees in YG. In 2014, Bobby participated in the popular rap contest television program Show Me the Money and went on to win the entire program. The same year, he appeared on Mix & Match, YG's followup to WIN: Who Is Next to determine who would comprise their next male group, iKON.

From the outset Bobby, B.I, and Jinhwan were confirmed members of the group, while the remaining Team B members had to compete against other YG trainees for a spot in iKON. Bobby successfully debuted as a member of iKON in October 2015, and has been active with the group and as a featuring rapper on other artists’ work since.

Most recently, in September of 2016 Bobby made his solo debut with the release of "HOLUP!", and also participated in a unit called MOBB with WINNER member Mino.
