Currently, the Internet is abuzz following reports from a Korean entertainment outlet claiming that Girls’ Generation members Taeyeon, Sunny, Hyoyeon, Yoona, and Yuri will be renewing their contracts with SM Entertainment, while Seohyun, Tiffany, and Sooyoung will be leaving the company.

The article claims that Seohyun and Sooyoung will be focusing on musicals and dramas, while Tiffany plans to focus on her career abroad.

Following the release of the article, SM Entertainment has offered a brief statement on the issue, saying, “Girls’ Generation is a very precious and meaningful group to both SM and the fans. Furthermore, the members are absolutely not considering disbandment.”

The statement continues, “As there are some members whose contracts have concluded, we will discuss in detail and decide carefully on the direction of Girls’ Generation’s future direction and activities. We ask for your support.”

The SM statement is vague in that it does not specify which members have renewed their contracts and which members will be continuing with SM, but the statement does seem to imply that the members who stay with SM will be keeping Girls’ Generation intact as a group.

More details regarding which members are staying and which are leaving the company are sure to be made available soon, so be sure to stick around moonROK for updates.
