Lately, Korean entertainment news has been absolutely abuzz with talk of “ToToGa,” the Infinity Challenge special in which Korea’s most famous pop singers from the ’90s dressed up in their old stage outfits and performed with their group members, many for the first time in 10 or more years.
When asked in a CBS interview about how it felt to perform with S.E.S members Bada and Shoo, Seohyun said, “While doing ‘ToToGa’ I was so honored and thankful.”
Seohyun is also currently in rehearsals to star in “Gone With the Wind” as Scarlett O’Hara, a role that is also shared by S.E.S member Bada.
On the subject, Seohyun said, “When I first heard that Bada sunbae had been proposed for the role, it was such a honor to have the opportunity, but I also thought, ‘Is this a stage that I dare to stand on?’ At the same time though, because a singer’s dream of accomplishment is so heavily influenced by seniors, I also thought to myself, ‘this is an opportunity that I don’t want to let go of.'”
The interviewers also brought up the fact that it must have been exhausting for Seohyun to participate in “ToToGa” due to her busy schedule, to which she replied, “It was really early in the morning, but because the atmosphere was so friendly and harmonious, I practiced in a happily. Especially after seeing my sunbaes’ energy, I could really feel their amazing passion.”
Seohyun added, “It was also a great experience listening to stories of what it was like to promote in the ’90s while learning all of the S.E.S choreography.”
On what it was like during the actual performance, Seohyun recalled, “I felt like I was dreaming,” continuing, “Most of the songs [on ‘ToToGa’] came out at the time when I was in kindergarten. It brought back so many memories of me watching TV when I was younger and following along recklessly to the songs.”
Seohyun also stated that participating on “ToToGa” reaffirmed her committment to her career, stating, “While I was watching all of the sunbaes, the thought suddenly occured to me, ‘A day like this will probably come for Girls’ Generation too, right?’ I felt that I have to work even harder to become a singer whose songs, even after a very long time, remain preciously in the memories of many.”
Lastly, the interviewers asked Seohyun what she would do if she was offered another chance to stand on stage with her seniors. To this Seohyun replied, “If I was given the chance to have this sort of honor again, I want to do it without hesitation. No matter what I will practice even harder so as not to embarrass my sunbaes!”
“ToToGa” continues to be a hot topic in the Korean press, and it seems that there is a good chance that one day we will see all of our favorite K-pop singers performing in a similar TV special once they’re in their 30s and 40s too. Until then, stay tuned to moonROK for updates on Seohyun and all of your other favorite artists and idols.
