IOI’s Kim Sejeong and Kang Mina to Debut in Jellyfish Girl Group

“Produce 101” group IOI has enjoyed extreme popularity following their debut with the show. However, the unique formatting of the show — that is to say the fact that most of the members come from different record labels — means that the group inevitably must come to an end.

Many are wondering what will happen to their favorite IOI members now that Mnet no longer has a hold on them. Will they go back to being trainees? Will they form sub units?

For Kim Sejeong and Kang Mina, the answer is that they will be part of Jellyfish Entertainment‘s first ever girl group.

Jellyfish made the announcement today, a representative of the company saying, “The two wrapped up their official activities with IOI on June 4, and are now in full preparation for their girl group debut. Having returned to the company, they are one step closer to their dream of debuting with the other trainees that they have been preparing with for a very long time. They are determined to use the experience that they’ve built up through IOI to show a grown and progressed side to them.”

Jellyfish’s first ever girl group is expected to debut at the end of June, so be on the lookout for more updates from MoonROK on Kim Sejeong and Kang Mina’s new group soon.
