Earlier this week Girls’ Generation released the concert DVD for their most recent solo concert at Tokyo Dome, “Girls’ Generation The Best Live at Tokyo Dome.”
The release was a record-breaking one, selling the 4th highest number of DVDs in Oricon chart history.
In its first week, the live DVD sold 11,000 copies and the Blu-ray version sold 14,000 copies, rocketing the DVD to the #1 spot on Oricon’s DVD chart.
An Oricon representative stated, “As this is the second time Girls’ Generation has gone #1 on the Blu-ray chart, they have beat out EXO, Super Junior, and KARA. This is also the second time that Girls’ Generation has gone #1 on the Blu-ray and DVD charts simultaneously, the most of any foreign artist. This is the fourth time that Girls’ Generation has gone #1 on the DVD chart, replacing KARA, who had three #1’s on the DVD chart, as the #1 selling foreign female artists on DVD record.”
Congratulations to Girls’ Generation on yet another successful release! The group will be releasing their new single “Catch Me If You Can” in Korea and Japan at the same time on April 10, so be sure to stick around moonROK for more updates on the group’s big comeback.
