Clazziquai’s female vocalist Horan has been fined 7,000,000 KRW (roughly $5,800 USD) for her most recent drunk driving offense.
On September 29th of last year, Horan was driving drunk at 5:40am and hit a truck near Seongsoo Bridge in Seoul. The driver of the truck sustained injuries that took two weeks to heal. Horan’s blood alcohol level was 0.106%; Seoul’s law states that a driver’s blood alcohol level must be below 0.10% while driving, and the limit is lowered to 0.05% if the driver is involved in an accident. Horan’s blood alcohol level was above both limits.
The prosecution suggested ten years imprisonment or a penalty fee of 5,000,000 to 30,000,000 KRW (roughly $4,000 – $25,000 USD), but Horan’s lawyers appealed for no detention back in October. In early December, police reviewed the case and said considering the circumstances of Horan’s accident, which injured another person, and her previous offenses, they were planning on a strict sentence.
Horan was also involved in drunk driving incidents in 2004 and 2007. The punishment for more than three drunk driving instances is one to three years imprisonment or 5,000,000 to 10,000,000 KRW (roughly $4,000 – $8,300 USD) regardless of degree of intoxication.
