It’s official – Bangtan Boys sold more albums than anyone in 2016.
Gaon’s annual chart rankings have just been released, and with over 750,000 in sales, Bangtan Boys’s latest album “Wings” is the highest selling album of the year.
Bangtan Boys outsold EXO, who came in at second with almost 550,000 units sold of their most recent album, “E’XACT.”
That being said, both EXO and Bangtan Boys dominated the top four spots for 2016, with EXO’s “For Life” repackage album coming in at third with more than 430,000 units sold, and Bangtan Boys coming in fourth with 368,000 units of their album “Young Forever” sold.
Combining their “Wings” and “Young Forever” albums , Bangtan Boys sold 1,119,670 albums this year, while EXO clocked in at 987,859 combining “E’XACT” and “For Life.”
Meanwhile TWICE represented for girl groups, coming in fifth in overall album sales with over 350,000 units sold of their “TWICEcoaster Lane 1” album.
